Moey Blanco is a Filipino-Canadian artist based in Calgary who transforms public spaces into sites for emotional connection and play. His multidisciplinary practice—spanning painting, murals, and large-scale sculptural installations—is informed by his studies at the Alberta University of the Arts, where he pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and Mount Royal University, where he studied English.

Blanco’s work is characterized by a “Psychology of Whimsy,” which utilizes character-driven imagery to address themes of vulnerability and collective memory within high-density urban environments. His aesthetic draws on the Japanese philosophy of hodo-hodo which means just “enough” and the Superflat movement, blending gestural lines with layered forms to create public art works in civic landscapes.
